Here’s a big, hearty, muddy-fingered, dirty-kneed, still-out-there-pulling-weeds-in-your-pajamas-an-hour-after-your-morning-coffee-stroll-around-your-yard hello from us to you. We’re your new home for gardening tips, tricks, advice, and commiseration. We are so glad you found us!

Have you Googled those pics of gorgeous gardens and just plain felt like giving up because you don’t have the time or acreage? Have you been told that if you only planted in a certain way and used certain soil supplements your garden would look perfect, too? If you just bought this one pre-planned garden all will be right with the world?

And when nothing works you feel like something is wrong with you? You are not doing it right? You are not working hard enough?

Are you trying to do the right thing and plant water-wise stuff? Are you taking a swing at California natives but get discouraged because absolutely nothing looks like the picture in the book?

Do you crave a garden but are feeling like getting what you want  has to take hours and hours on the weekend, and is the ONLY thing you’ll ever have time for? That you need to have a half-acre or country estate in order to have a ‘real’ garden?

• We’ve tried to get in weed-pulling time while taking care of kids, parents, pets, making dinner, having a stressful job, a long commute, and having other things we like to do, and just fallen deeper and deeper into the oak leaves piling up against the house. 

And we’ve made mistakes. Boy, howdy, so many mistakes! We might as well have just thrown hundred dollar bills straight into the green-waste bin. It would have been more efficient.

We’re here to share with you all our mistakes and successes, and help you see that there’s no such thing as a ‘perfect’ garden…there’s only the garden that is YOURS, that reflects YOUR style, that YOU love, that YOU find joy in, and that works for YOU.

We live on the central coast of California, and we don’t sugar-coat that. Marine-influence, FTW! We can help you understand what’s worked for us, and what might work for you.

And we want to hear what’s worked for YOU that might work for others. You and your garden are unique.  It’s all good. It’s all fun.
